historybybus.org.uk is devoted to publicising all the art galleries; museums; historic sites; historic markets and towns; parks and historic landscapes; craft centres; rivers and canals you can reach direct by bus from Nottingham City Centre, plus heritage walks and eateries.

Local history and travelling by bus have been passions since childhood and I have promoted buses as a great way to discover the past for many years, but historybybus.org.uk is the first time I have done this in a systematic way.

The vast majority of heritage related websites tell you next to nothing about accessibility by public transport. We are all expected to arrive by car. historybybus.org.uk does the reverse. It tells you nothing about cars or parking.

If you are visiting the website before 16 May 2014, you are visiting a website ‘under construction’. My aim is to have it up and running by my 70th birthday, so please bear with me.

I hope you enjoy your visit and have a few days out by bus as a result. Feedback would be welcome.

Robert Howard, 25 March 2014.
